Response to Question:There are many reasons for properties to be disputed and a number of ways to clear up the disputes. A couple of examples are #1 Boundary disputes: these can be cleared up by calling a surveyor and having a complete survey done of your property. #2 Ownership disputes: The public real property records are a system of records maintained by the County Recorder, that are readily available for inspection by the general public and that contain matters effecting title to real estate situated in that particular county. In theory, one should be able to go to these records and, after a careful search, be able to determine who is in title and what liens and encumbrances affect title to any specific parcel of real estate. Always remember that the recorder is not an attorney, so you may need to seek legal advise.
