Response to Question:  Lorain County Domestic Relations Court has both domestic and juvenile jurisdiction.  In both courts the most urgent issue to be addressed is the safety and well being of children and families in Lorain County.  This includes accountability and services for delinquent juveniles as well as services and protection for abused, neglected, and dependent children and children in the middle of divorces and domestic violence situations.  This issue is constantly addressed through the development of programs with the assistance and corroboration of the community.  Some of these programs include Family and Juvenile Drug Court, Truancy Court, Parenting Seminars, Visitation Mediation, Family Divorce Services, Intensive Probation Programs, and Specialized Services to deal with mental health issues and academic deficiencies.  Usually when children and adults come into the Domestic or Juvenile Court they are experiencing situations that are negatively impacting them and their family.  As a Court we need to continuously explore programs and opportunities to effectively and positively address these situations.
