Term:  6 years

Salary:  $136,800

Job Description:  To hear all cases involving questions arising under the Ohio Constitution or statutes; to hear appeals from Courts of Appeals decisions.  The Supreme Court’s decisions are final except in cases involving the U.S. Constitution, statutes, or treaties.

Training and Experience:  Upon graduation from law school, I was employed as a law clerk in Ohio’s 8th District Court of Appeals. Subsequently, I was employed as a Magistrate in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, Probate Division. In November 1979 I was elected to the Cleveland Municipal Court, Where I served from 1980 to 2003.

Candidate Statement: I served as Municipal Judge for 24 years where I conducted thousands of trials and dealt with the administration of a high volume court. The Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers endoreses my candidacy along with unions representing the working people of Ohio and the Ohio Democratic party. I am a 25 year breast cancer survivor ans was a single adoptive parent. My son is currently in the United States Marine Corp., deployed in Iraq. In addition to many civic and community organizations, I served nine years on the Board of Trustees of Bowling Green State University, where I also served as president of the board. After 18 years of the same leadership at the Ohio Supreme Court, it is time to take Ohio’s judicial system in a new direction. Ohioans are entitled to a court system where justice is delivered in a timely and uniform manner by judges working as long, efficiently and as hard as the working people of Ohio. It is time for the voters of Ohio to hire a new Chief Justice.
